Equipment and oral hygiene questionnaire 2007

Over 200 dentists participated in the BDTA’s equipment and oral hygiene research in August 2007.  Dentists were asked about their purchasing patterns between January to December 2006.

Key findings of the research revealed:

• Chairs, curing lights and couplings were the most popular items of equipment purchased in 2006.
• The majority of respondents re-used old equipment elsewhere in the practice.
• Almost three quarters of practices purchased manual toothbrushes to sell on to patients.

Respondents were entered into a prize draw to win one of three cases of wine.  The lucky winners, whose names were announced at BDTA Dental Showcase 2007, were:

• Dr Van Staden of Christchurch Dental Practice
• Dr Bhowmick of Julian Bhowmick Dental Surgery
• Mr Isaac of Eltham Park Dental Practice
