How to claim your Continuing Professional Development hours at Showcase 2007

The importance of CPD

It is compulsory for all those on the GDC register to complete 250 hours of CPD over every five-year cycle and maintain accurate records which demonstrate how this has been achieved.

The BDTA realises that learning takes place during an exhibition.  Whether you are researching a new product, comparing services of two companies or watching a live demonstration, its all an important part of your development as a dental professional and vital to better serving the increasing needs of your patients.  As a result, the BDTA is delighted to offer you CPD hours for your time spent at the exhibition.

Claiming CPD hours at Showcase

  • Ensure that your badge is scanned by staff at the entrance of the exhibition hall on arrival.

  • Ensure your badge is scanned by a member of staff at the exit on leaving the show for the final time.  This will be clearly signposted.

  • A certificate showing the hours spent at the show will be posted to the address given at the time of ticket registration approximately 28 days after the event.

  • The certificate will be accompanied with a feedback form, which will give you an opportunity to influence the way that Dental Showcase is run in the future.

  • Badges do not need to be scanned when leaving the halls for short periods during the day to obtain refreshments etc. but please remember the GDC guidelines which state that periods spent on registration or breaks should not be included in CPD hours for an activity.

Register for your complimentary entry ticket now. Click here or call the telephone hotline on 01494 729959.  Advance registration closes 30 September 2007.  On the day registration: £10 per person.  BDTA Dental Showcase takes place in halls 6 and 20 at the NEC, Birmingham, 18-20 October 2007.

See Magician Alan Hudson at the BDA Conference and Exhibition in May

The BDTA is delighted to announce that Alan Hudson, the internationally-famous Magician will be making an appearance on its stand at the BDA Conference and Exhibition in May.

In keeping with the ‘Touch of Magic’ theme being used to promote Dental Showcase this year, delegates should prepare to be amazed by some of the magic tricks and illusions Alan will be displaying during the BDA event.

The exciting range of humorous magic will take place on the BDTA stand, 21–22 in hall Q at the Harrogate International Centre between 3pm and 7pm on Thursday 24 May. So, as you stop by the stand to pick up details about this year’s Showcase as well as up-to-date information on BDTA members, you will be able to catch a glimpse of Alan at work.

We look forward to seeing you there!

A Touch of Magic

This year ‘a touch of magic’ has been chosen as the theme for marketing BDTA Dental Showcase 2007 to the dental trade and profession. Apart from the fact that magical imagery is sure to create a striking and eye-catching concept in the lead up to and during the event there are a number of other reasons why it has been chosen.

Magic itself conjures up a sense of new creations in people’s minds and this in itself is typical of the dental industry which prides itself on innovation and product development. Showcase provides an excellent opportunity for the trade to demonstrate their innovative products and services and technological developments to the dental team.

A further reason for the adoption of the theme is that members of the dental team can be likened ‘magicians’, being skilled with their hands and often producing impressive results, whether in the field of restorative, cosmetic or preventive dentistry.

The emphasis on touch is very significant to dentistry with the magic touch of dental treatment responsible for transforming and improving people’s smiles.

BDTA Dental Showcase takes place 18–20 October 2007 at NEC Birmingham. You can reserve your complimentary ticket by visiting www.dentalshowcase.com and completing the online registration form or telephoning the registration hotline on 01494 789959. Industry and profession growing closer

As a sign of increasing co-operation between the dental industry and the profession, the British Dental Trade Association (BDTA) is exhibiting at the British Dental Conference and Exhibition for the first time.

BDTA will be on stands 21 and 22 in the main exhibition hall of the Harrogate International Centre on 24 to 26 May 2007. It will be promoting both BDTA Dental Showcase 2007 and its members to the anticipated over-3000 delegates.

Visitors to the stand will be able to register in advance for tickets to Dental Showcase 2007 and find out more about the event; learn about BDTA member companies and their products and services; pick up the latest copy of the members’ directory; and participate in the BDTA’s dental research project. There will also plans for a prize draw exclusive to BDA Conference delegates.

BDA chief executive Peter Ward said: “I am delighted to welcome the BDTA to the British Dental Conference and Exhibition.

“We have had a very fruitful year and have begun working together on a number of important collaborative projects.

“Recognising our shared interests, we can achieve much more than working in isolation.”

Executive Director of the BDTA Tony Reed added: “The BDTA is looking forward to being part of this major event in the dental calendar. We also believe that we should work together wherever there are opportunities for mutual benefit.”

Showcase carpet turned into flower pots

For the past few years, the BDTA, organiser of the UK’s premier dental exhibition, has ensured that the aisles within the Showcase exhibition hall have been carpeted to make the experience more comfortable for visitors as they walk around the stands.

In 2006 the BDTA was able to source recyclable carpet for the event.  Made from 100% polypropylene but not compromising on quality, the BDTA is delighted that it will be put to further good use. Since Showcase in October 2006, the carpet has been melted into pellets and will be sold for making items such as motor parts, plastic crates and even flower pots.

The recycling plant is set to purchase a new machine that can manage approx 5 million square metres of carpet per year and the carpet from BDTA Dental Showcase 2007 will form part of this as the BDTA plans to use recyclable carpet again at this year’s Showcase.

BDTA working to increase exhibitor and visitor numbers at Dental Showcase in 2007

The British Dental Trade Association is working closely with dental trade and is undertaking a major marketing campaign amongst the dental team to exceed the stand and visitor numbers achieved at the previous Dental Showcase held the NEC Birmingham in 2005.

All members of the dental care team were well represented, with a good cross section visiting the exhibition on each of the three days.  45% of all visitors were dentists and there was a significant and welcome increase in the number of practice managers who attended the event compared to previous years.  A breakdown of the visitor numbers to Dental Showcase 2005 is shown below:

Message from the BDTA President, Peter Rees

“Attendance at Showcase benefits the whole team”

When else would you have the opportunity for your whole team to take part in an event that offers something for all Dental Care Professionals?

Showcase is an opportunity for all members of the dental team to visit the stands of the key players in the market, and also the manufacturers of those obscure ‘widgets’ without which daily practice could become such a chore.

Manufacturers will be doing their best to promote their latest wares which will offer anything from a complete change in the way that you work to simply a refinement of what you do that will prove time  - or money - saving if adopted.

But it is not all about products – there will be stands featuring the means by which personal and personnel development can be organised – allowing for Continuous Professional Development that all Dental Care Professionals will be seeking. Courses on techniques, communication, finance, practice management and teamwork to name a few can all be found and even attendance at Showcase will generate its own CPD points – how can you miss it?

      Reserve your ticket Now!

Reserve your complimentary ticket to guarantee fast track entry to the exhibition by completing the online registration form on this website or calling the telephone hotline 01494 729959. Advance registration closes 12 October 2007. On the day registration: £10 per person.

Special offer for dental laboratories at BDTA Dental Showcase 2007

Following the success at last year’s Dental Showcase, the BDTA is again offering a unique package to dental laboratories looking for a low-cost opportunity to exhibit at BDTA Dental Showcase in 2007.

This year’s exhibition is being held at the NEC, Birmingham, 18–20 October 2007 and will attract more than 10,000 members of the dental team, making it by far the biggest event in the UK’s dental calendar.

The BDTA has recognised the challenge facing laboratories and the increasingly competitive nature of the laboratory industry since the introduction of the New Contract. It has never been more important to make contact with dentists and promote your services directly to this audience in order to increase your customer base.

For a fraction of the usual price, the special laboratory stands will consist of:

      • your own 2 by 2 metre space on a shell scheme stand with your company name
      • chairs
      • a counter
      • a glass display case
      • lighting
      • a power point
      • entry in the catalogue and on the website.

Because of the exceptional price, there is a limit to the number of these stands available. Laboratories must book by 1 June 2007 to take advantage of this offer.

Find the magic rabbits at Showcase

This year’s Showcase competition requires you to find the magic rabbits within the exhibition halls 19 and 20.

All you have to do as you walk around the exhibition is spot the stands displaying a small but very cute cuddly rabbit, like the one in the picture, and make a note of the stand number on which they appear on the entry form in the Official Showcase Catalogue.  When you think you have found 40 rabbits, bring the entry form to the BDTA stand by the entrance.

Each day, the first 100 individuals to return correctly completed forms will win a cute rabbit to take home with them with compliments of the BDTA.

Are you paying the right rate for the job?

In 2006, Strategic Dental Marketing, on behalf of the BDTA, undertook a salary study amongst BDTA members in order to determine average salary and benefits packages offered primarily to sales and marketing personnel.

The research is being repeated in 2007 to help members when making hiring decisions, assessing benefit plans and adjusting current salary scales and we are hoping that a majority of members will participate in the research this year.  The survey covers:

        • Salary, commission and benefits packages paid to sales representatives
        • Salary, benefits and bonus packages paid to sales and marketing managers
        • Salaries for other personnel including customer service and technical support representatives.

You can complete the survey online at: http://snaponline.snapsurveys.com/surveylogin.asp?k=117525512273.

Responses must be received by 30 April 2007.  Strategic Dental Marketing will be analysing the data, responses will not be viewed by the BDTA.

Results will be provided to participating companies only.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Rebecca Evans on 01494 781181.

Book your stand at BDTA Dental Showcase now!

Stand booking information about this year’s BDTA Dental Showcase was released in February and is now also accessible on the official Showcase website www.dentalshowcase.com.

Given the overwhelming success of previous events, demand for stands is likely to be high so it is therefore advisable to book early to avoid disappointment and improve your chances of the BDTA being able to meet your special requirements.

Over 250 companies are expected to exhibit and more than 10,000 members of the dental team are likely to attend the UK’s premier dental exhibition.  In fact, the last time Showcase was held at the NEC in 2005, 11,422 visitors attended and 277 companies exhibited.

A Touch of Magic has been adopted as the theme for marketing the event this year. Magic itself conjures up a sense of new creations and innovations which is very prevalent in dentistry. It also allows some unusual and eye catching imagery to be used.

Information will be sent to members of the dental team encouraging them to register in advance and attend the event shortly and the BDTA will be registering individuals for Showcase tickets on stands 21 and 22 at the BDA Conference and Exhibition in May.

For those companies that have already booked a stand and those planning to book soon (deadline 30 March 2007), please remember to consider the range of sponsorship and promotional opportunities available to maximise your investment in the exhibition. The BDTA is offering a range of opportunities before, during and after the event, pitched at a range of price points to suit the budgets of all exhibitors. If you have any promotional ideas of your own you would like to discuss, please contact Rebecca Evans at the BDTA on 01494 781181 or e-mail rebeccaevans@bdta.org.uk.

BDTA Dental Showcase takes place at the NEC Birmingham 18–20 October 2007. For further details visit www.dentalshowcase.com or contact the BDTA on 01494 782873.

        New service from the BDTA

The BDTA is launching a new service to provide market reports on large equipment categories to members who participate in the research.

Strategic Dental Marketing is asking the manufacturers of large equipment to provide two numbers for every category in which they participate; the total value and volume sold in 2006.  This can be done quickly by linking to a secure online data entry form on http://snaponline.snapsurveys.com/surveylogin.asp?k=116959261274.

All information is transmitted directly to Strategic Dental Marketing in New Jersey.  They will tabulate the data and provide reports. Data will only be published for categories where a representative sample of manufacturers have provided sales data.

This new report will provide the market data required to make better business decisions and will be provided at no cost to all participating companies but we can only do this with your involvement.

For further information contact Rebecca Evans at the BDTA on 01494 781181.

Showcase artist makes donation to Dentaid

Showcase provided an unusual opportunity for visitors to acquire unique artworks for their dental surgeries and homes. The ‘Art of Dentistry’ street scene, which was located just inside the entrance area of the exhibition, was popular with visitors throughout the event. The BDTA was grateful to its locally based artist, Chris Sims, who presented his work and painted on the stand over the three days. Many members of the dental team revealed their artistic talents and were very complimentary about the abstract work, which were inspired by the Chiltern Hills.

In a special collaboration with the BDTA, Chris produced a series of four limited-edition prints exclusively for Showcase.
A set of the limited edition prints will be given to each of the three runners up of the Showcase prize draw. Each print will be signed and numbered by Chris, confirming the limited edition’s authenticity.

Chris also made a donation towards Dentaid’s fundraising programme. He donated his usual gallery commission of 35% from the sale of the limited edition prints to the charity and supplied them with their own set of limited edition prints to use as a further means of raising funds.

To find out more about Chris Sims visit www.cs384.co.uk or telephone 01494 771706.

Chris will be exhibiting with the Bucks 21 Group at the ICETWICE gallery in Olney, near Milton Keynes in mid November – www.icetwice.com.

        Showcase Prize Draw Winners

The British Dental Trade Association, organiser of London Dental Showcase 2006, is delighted to announce the following winners of the Showcase prize draw:

        • Mr John Davis
        • Mrs Felicia Rovitto
        • Mr Philip Laws

Visitors who had registered in advance were able to enter the draw on the ‘Art of Dentistry’ Montmartre street scene at the same time as meeting rising artist in residence, Chris Sims.  The three lucky winners will each enjoy a weekend trip for two to Paris where they will be able to experience the artistic delights of Montmartre for themselves.

Tony Reed, Executive Director at the BDTA, ‘The competition was open to visitors who registered for tickets in advance and visited the exhibition on at least one of the three days. The competition was another benefit of advance registration in addition to avoiding the £10 on the day charge and the queues on exhibition days.  We hope they will each have an enjoyable time!’

A set of four limited edition Showcase prints, created by Chris Sims especially for the event, was won by each of the following runners-up:

        • Dr Omer El-Hamdoon
        • Dr Richard Beckwith
        • Ms Naomi Kakungowo

The abstract prints, inspired by the Chiltern Hills, will look equally good in their dental surgeries or their homes.

London Dental Showcase 2006 attracted over 10,000 members of the dental team over the three day event.  BDTA Dental Showcase 2007 takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, 18-20 October 2007.

Record visitor numbers at this year’s London Dental Showcase

The British Dental Trade Association is pleased to announce the success of London Dental Showcase 2006. In total, 303 stands exhibited the latest products, technologies and services to well over 10,000 visitors who attended the exhibition at ExCeL London (5-7 October 2006).

Visitor numbers were a massive 44% higher than the last London Dental Showcase which took place in 2004.  All members of the dental care team were well represented, with many individuals visiting the exhibition on more than one of the three days.  Almost 50% of all visitors were dentists and there was a significant and welcome increase in the number of dental nurses, laboratory owners and dental technicians who attended the event this year compared with the last London exhibition in 2004.

So far, feedback from visitors and exhibitors has been extremely positive, with many exhibitors reporting great sales figures and visitors commenting on an enjoyable yet productive time!

Tony Reed, Executive Director of the BDTA, commented, ‘It is a pleasure to see that Showcase is growing year on year in terms of both visitor and exhibitor numbers, proving that a stand alone exhibition is welcomed by the entire dental market.  The BDTA puts a great deal of effort into ensuring the event is enjoyable and worthwhile for everyone and would like to extend its thanks to all those involved in making this year’s event such a tremendous success.’

Staff on the BDTA stand, K01, were extremely busy across the three days handing out Showcase catalogues and floor plans and BDTA leaflets, mugs, mouse mats and bags.  The overall art of dentistry theme worked effectively to promote the event beforehand as well as during the event.  The “find the artists’ model” competition was a particular winner with visitors who walked around the exhibition trying to find the wooden mannequins hidden on a number of exhibition stands.  Even the exhibitors who participated were pleased to discover that they could keep the bendy model which had been placed on their stand.  It was great to see so many getting involved.

Several thousand entries were received for the competition to win one of three weekend trips to Montmartre, the picturesque artists’ quarter of Paris.  The winners are Mr John Davis, Mrs Felicia Rovitto and Mr Philip Laws.

        Showcase advert tops the poll!

The advertising campaign for London Dental Showcase 2006 was voted the ‘best remembered’, according to a recent survey commissioned by BDA News.

The Ad-Q study is conducted by an independent research company in America called Harvey Research amongst 100 randomly selected readers and provides feedback for advertisers on how well adverts are seen and read in a particular issue of a magazine. It also provides feedback on areas such as buying influence and actions taken as a result of ads and articles.

Of the 100 BDA News readers surveyed, 71% recalled seeing the London Dental Showcase advert and 50% recalled reading it. Of those who said they have an interest in Dental exhibitions, 73% recalled seeing and 62% recalled reading the advertisement. Based on these four percentages the London Dental Showcase 2006 ‘Art of Dentistry’ advert topped the poll.

Tony Reed, Executive Director of the BDTA, commented “We adopted the ‘Art of Dentistry’ theme to promote this year’s London Dental Showcase and the paint palette provided a striking and eye catching image to ensure the message was noticed.  We received more advance registrations and actual visitors than we have ever received for the London event so the advert and the other elements of the integrated marketing campaign obviously had the desired effect.  We are delighted that our advertisement was the ‘best remembered’ in the BDA News survey.”

Look out for the advertisements promoting the 2007 Dental Showcase which will be appearing in the dental press shortly!  A new theme will be adopted to promote the event.

BDTA Dental Showcase 2007 takes place at NEC, Birmingham, 18-20 October 2007.  For further details visit www.dentalshowcase.com or telephone 01494 782873.

        Painting in Numbers!

Delegates at the Annual Conference of the British Dental Trade Association who were expecting a relaxing Friday afternoon got more than they had bargained for as they arrived for the afternoon session to the famous Tony Hart theme tune.

The session was organized by a company called Catalyst, which promises to run original and inspirational programmes designed to create memorable, vibrant and totally effective results for clients through teambuilding events which explode with innovation and energy.

The 50 conference delegates were split into teams, each of which was given one pre-drawn and one blank canvas to paint within two hours.  Sound easy?  Well, each of the canvases would eventually join with several others to create ‘The Big Picture’.  The colours on the adjoining squares therefore had to match so teams were required to locate the teams with the adjoining boards and come to an arrangement about sharing the paint!  There were also art related questions which had to be answered in return for paint brushes, sponges and mixing tubs.  It was a novel and fun way to encourage team working as well as communication between individuals.

BDTA President and Managing Director of Dentsply, Peter Rees, commented, ‘It was great to have such a hands-on activity on the programme.  The BDTA offered a free conference place to each BDTA member company this year so there were a few new faces at the event.  We wanted to get everyone talking and this activity worked really well as an ice-breaker’.

Delegates were impressed with the finished result and agreed that although they had originally been apprehensive (especially about wearing the one size fits all painters’ overalls!) they were pleased to have participated.

The activity linked directly to the Art of Dentistry theme for this year’s London Dental showcase so it seemed apt to focus the big picture on exhibition stands and demonstrations.  (You can register for your complimentary ticket for Showcase on www.dentalshowcase.com or telephone: 01494 729959.)

      • Message from the BDTA President – Peter Rees

Attendance at Showcase benefits the whole team

When else would you have the opportunity for your whole team to take part in an event that offers something for everyone?

Showcase is an opportunity for all members of the dental team to visit the stands of the key players in the market, and also the manufacturers of those obscure ‘widgets’ without which daily practice could become such a chore.

Manufacturers will be doing their best to promote their latest wares which will offer anything from a complete change in the way that you work to simply a refinement of what you do that will prove time or money saving if adopted.

Reserve your complimentary ticket to guarantee fast track entry to the exhibition, by visiting www.dentalshowcase.com or calling the telephone hotline 01494 729959. Advance registration closes 30 September 2006. On the day registration: £10 per person.

How to claim your Continuing Professional Development hours at LDS 2006

        The importance of CPD

CPD plays a crucial role in the advancement of knowledge and professional development of dentists in the UK.  Since the beginning of 2004 it has been compulsory for all dentists to complete 250 hours of CPD over every five-year cycle and maintain accurate records which demonstrate how this has been achieved. At least 75 hours of the 250 attained must be verifiable CPD, which means that:

        • Certificates must be obtained from the organiser showing the hours spent at the event.
        • Concise educational aims and objectives must be apparent.
        • The event should have clear anticipated outcomes.
        • An opportunity to provide feedback on the event must be offered.
        • Although not yet compulsory for the rest of the team, many members also like to keep records of their CPD both as a personal achievement and in preparation for the day when they are added to the GDC Register.

        CPD at Showcase

Attending London Dental Showcase meets the educational criteria required for Verifiable Continuing Professional Development under the General Dental Council Lifelong Learning scheme and enables the dental professionals to claim the hours spent at the exhibition as Verifiable CPD hours.

The British Dental Trade Association issued verifiable Continuing Professional Development hours to dentists, hygienists and therapists who attended London Dental Showcase 2004.  A total of 12123 hours, or 1 year, 5 months, 20 days, 2 hours and 50 mins of CPD hours were issued!  Certificates will again be issued to LDS 2006 visitors.

The GDC’s 2003 CPD annual declaration collection revealed that over 2,000 dentists in the CPD scheme did not complete the recommended 15 hours of verifiable CPD per year. The GDC recommend that 50 hours (15 verifiable, 35 general) of CPD is completed each year and attending Dental Showcase is an enjoyable way of obtaining some of these hours by ensuring your knowledge of the latest equipment and services is kept up to date. The three day event is taking place at ExCeL, London, 5-7 October 2006.  Register for your complimentary entry ticket now on the official dental showcase website www.dentalshowcase.com or call the telephone hotline on 01494 729959.  Advance registration closes 30 September 2006.  On the day registration: £10 per person.

Find the artists' models at Showcase

The BDTA is organising a competition to find the artists’ models within the exhibition hall during London Dental Showcase 2006. All you have to do as you walk around the exhibition is spot the stands displaying a wooden artists’ model, like the ones in the picture, and make a note of the stand number on the entry form in the Official Showcase Catalogue.  When you think you have found them all, bring the entry form to the BDTA stand by the entrance.  Each day, the first 100 individuals to return correctly completed forms will win a mini art set with compliments of the BDTA.

        Paint Palette Photography

A photo studio was set up at the BDTA offices in Chesham to photograph the paint palette which will be used for the London Dental Showcase 2006 promotional materials this year.

The palette, paints and brushes were purchased and set up in the most visually appealing manner, with a splotch of each paint colour placed attractively round the edge of the palette.

        Then came the fun part...

To symbolize that good dentistry involves a mix of dental professionals, dental skills, knowledge, techniques and dental equipment and materials to achieve the best results and that Showcases is an ideal opportunity to see the tools of the trade, it was necessary to mix the individual splotches of paint together, creating a new set of colours in the process.  This was very messy but looks effective, colourful and eye catching.

The actual ‘messy’ palette used has been retained by the BDTA and will be on display on the BDTA stand at London Dental Showcase 2006.

        The Art of Dentistry!

The Art of Dentistry has been adopted as the theme for marketing London Dental Showcase 2006, the UK’s premier dental exhibition, taking place at ExCeL London, 5–7 October 2006.  The organiser of the show, the British Dental Trade Association explained the decision to use an artistic theme by pointing out the many similarities between art and dentistry.  Good dentistry involves a mix of dental professionals, dental skills, knowledge, techniques and dental equipment and materials to achieve the best results in much the same way as an artist requires skill, technique and various tools and accessories to create a painting.  The paint palette provides a striking and distinctive image which highlights the important role played by the tools and materials in the end product.

Tony Reed, Executive Director at the BDTA commented, ‘The artistic theme for this year’s show presents us with a number of opportunities to promote the event in a colourful and effective manner.  The many elements that combine to make a successful artwork closely mirror the process of dentistry.  There is no better place to view the tools of the dental trade than London Dental Showcase 2006.’

Art is generally about the creation of aesthetically pleasing pictures and the increased trend towards aesthetics in the dental world provides yet another sound reason for adopting the theme.

Keep your eyes peeled for art related Showcase prize draws and activities taking place at the exhibition.

        Special offer for laboratories

The introduction of the new NHS contract is going to have a profound effect on laboratories.  All the evidence points to a reduction in the amount of work being commissioned, so the competition for the work that is available will be a lot fiercer.

The BDTA has recognised the challenge facing laboratories and has responded with a unique package designed to give newcomers a low-cost option to exhibit at Showcase in 2006.  This year’s exhibition is being held at the rapidly expanding ExCeL site in London’s Docklands and will attract more than 7,000 members of the dental team, making it by far the biggest event in the UK’s dental calendar.

With the help of the Dental Laboratories Association, the BDTA is delighted to offer an exceptional package to laboratories who are making their first appearance at the show.  In a nutshell, the offer consists of a fully equipped stand for less than half the usual price.  For further information visit www.dentalshowcase.com.  There will be a limited number of these special stands available so you need to contact the BDTA by 31st May 2006 if you wish to take advantage of this offer.

Tony Reed, Executive Director at the BDTA says, ‘At this uncertain time, we are pleased to be offering laboratories a chance to exhibit at Showcase cost effectively.  Attracting a number of new exhibitors to the event will enhance the exhibition experience for all visitors’.

If you have any questions or you would like any further information, please contact Helen Smith on 01494 781188 or by e-mail to helensmith@bdta.org.uk

London Dental Showcase will take place 5-7 October 2006

The Association is pleased to announce the outcome of the extensive research programme that has been conducted throughout the industry to determine the preferred opening days for Dental Showcase in 2006.  Early indications were that Sunday would be the chosen option but since announcing the possibility of a Sunday opening there has been a strong reaction against the idea.  As a result, the confirmed dates for next year’s event are:

        • Thursday 5 October 2006
        • Friday 6 October 2006
        • Saturday 7 October 2006

It was also clear from the research that there are a number of visitors who would value an opportunity to attend in the evening and we will be staying open later on Thursday evening to meet this demand.  It is expected that opening times on Thursday will be from Midday to 8.00pm, with opening times on Friday and Saturday as in previous years.  Full details will be widely publicised in good time for all those planning a visit to the show.

Tony Reed, Executive Director at the British Dental Trade Association, organiser of the UK’s leading dental exhibition, says ‘Showcase is a superb and convenient opportunity for the whole dental industry to see demonstrations of the latest technologies and meet up with past colleagues all under one roof.  There were indications that a Sunday opening would be favoured following the last London show but too few people were willing to express opinions.  Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is only since the BDTA announced that Sunday was looking like a real possibility that we have had sufficient feedback to make an informed decision.  It has been our aim to provide an exhibition geared towards making everyone’s trip as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and we are happy to respond to the comments of the audience by continuing to open on the Thursday rather than the Sunday.  We look forward to welcoming you all to ExCeL, London to what promises to be another great event.’

Details on stand booking and reserving sponsorship and advertising opportunities will be sent to the trade within t
