BDTA Certificate: Introduction to Dentistry

The BDTA Certificate: Introduction to Dentistry is a training course designed by the BDTA to raise the level of understanding and give an appreciation of the work of the whole dental team.

Designed for those new to dentistry, new registrants and those who supply and provide a service to the dental profession, either in the surgery or laboratory, the BDTA Certificate: Introduction to Dentistry is written by specialists, providing step-by-step training in the basics of dentistry and dental equipment. The ten-module course is suitable for either self-learning or supervised training and is ideal as part of a company induction programme.

There are two formal examinations each year (Spring and Autumn) but you are welcome to attend the BDTA offices at any mutually convenient time to sit the examination.

Revision Seminar – Laboratory Workshop

This course is aimed at those who want to learn more about the work of the Dental Technician and is particularly relevant for those working in companies supplying dental laboratories. It is also extremely worthwhile for those preparing to take the BDTA Certificate: Introduction to Dentistry examination. The workshop is held in one of the state-of-the-art laboratories at the Matthew Boulton College in Birmingham and has a highly practical "hands-on" content. Students will learn more about the different types of impression materials, crowns, bridges, onlays, inlays and veneers.

Revision Seminar – General

This course is designed to assist students who are studying for the BDTA Certificate: Introduction to Dentistry examination. The seminar will look at each module in turn, providing visual aids and in-depth explanations of the more complex aspects of the course. It will assist you to gauge how well you are studying and give you an opportunity to ask questions and review the course as a whole before sitting the exam.
