The British Dental Trade Association award for outstanding contribution to the dental industry was presented to Dr Brian Schottlander at the prestigious BDA Honours and Awards Dinner on 24 November 2010 at Hotel Russell, London.

Since joining the family company of Davis Schottlander & Davis Ltd over 40 years ago, Brian has taken a variety of roles, before taking over as Managing Director in 1988. The company has grown considerably during this time.

Dr Schottlander is an enthusiastic advocate of education and training within the industry. He has demonstrated his support by providing a fully equipped lecture theatre, surgery and dental laboratory at his company headquarters in Hertfordshire, which offers a comprehensive range of courses for the dental team. He is also committed to staff training and he has been an active supporter of the BDTA’s training programme, encouraging all his staff to sit the examination.

Under Brian’s leadership, Davis, Schottlander & Davis has received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation Category on two occasions. To quote the Queen’s Awards Office, “This is the highest honour that can be bestowed on a UK business” and is a particularly significant accolade.

Brian’s personal achievements include an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Birmingham University 2001 and 16 years of unbroken service on the BDTA Council, including a term as President. He has also been a business mentor for the Princes Trust since 2003
