The BDTA meets members’ expectations
Jan 24, 2011
BDTA members were invited to participate in a membership survey in November and December 2010 to enable the BDTA to assess whether the Association is meeting the needs of members. Forty seven members participated in the research which represented an impressive 35% response rate.
- 98% of members’ expectations were either fully or moderately realised.
- The main reasons cited for joining the BDTA are to benefit from the Showcase exhibition stand discount, to gain credibility within the trade and to network with fellow professionals. This was consistent with 2008 and 2009.
- The importance of influencing the future of the dental profession has increased by 10% since 2009.
- The proportion of members stating that their company is actively involved with the Association has increased from 27% in 2009 to 41% in 2010.
- There has been a steady increase in the level of interest in the Association over the last three years with 49% now stating that their Company had experienced an increased interest.
- 87% of respondents rated their BDTA membership as very or quite useful.
- Comments suggest that exhibition discounts, advice, technical/market information, and networking opportunities are seen as particularly useful benefits.
- Nearly all respondents (94%) were aware of the BDTA Code of Practice.
- Ratings of how well the Association is meeting its objectives are generally positive, particularly regarding the organisation of Showcase and provision of information to members.
- When asked which areas the BDTA should develop over the next few years, over half of members suggested that supply of information (57%) and promotion of BDTA members to the dental team (55%) required the most focus.
Tony Reed, Executive Director at the BDTA, stated “We have seen a marked increased in the number of members joining committees and attending events. The services provided to members are highly regarded and we will be using the results to investigate ways to develop further added value for members. Thank you to all the members who participated in the research.”
