Manufacturing dental equipment to the rigorous standards that European Legislation demands requires is a costly business. Of course manufacturers and distributors make a profit and there is always someone who will shave that profit margin for one reason or another. But there is a world of difference between shaving a margin and selling for a fraction of the normal price. Nobody can do that legitimately and stay in business. As the old saying goes, if it looks to good to be true then it probably is.

It is not out of the question to buy from an unknown manufacturer but you must ensure that the product has a genuine CE mark. This marking is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant European Directives. The initials ‘CE’ are a declaration by manufacturers that their product is up to the necessary standard. You can see CE marking on a product as an indication of conformance to standards, and a minimum level of quality that other products may lack.
