A-dec crowned champions at the BDTA Go-Karting event

Eleven teams and supporters amounting to some 70 individuals from the dental trade gathered at the Birmingham Wheels circuit on Saturday 11 July 2009 to take part in an exhilarating go-karting challenge. The aim was to encourage individuals from within member companies who do not attend existing BDTA events to get involved and build a connection with the Association.

With the revs rising, the visors down and hands tightly gripping the steering wheels, the 2 hour race was soon underway. It was quickly apparent that it was the winning, not the taking part, that mattered, as drivers went flat out along the straights and around the corners, despite the heavy showers, to complete the most laps in the fastest time.

The chequered flag was soon waved and the winning team was A-dec who seemed to have recruited their very own Jenson Button for the day. They achieved the fastest overall lap time of 48.311 seconds and completed the highest number of laps (133) in the allocated time. Behind the champions in second place was FMC who had been helped by the BDTA’s Tony Reed. They completed 129 laps and achieved a best lap time of 50.342 seconds. In third place was Septodont who had pulled out all the stops to come from tenth place on the starting grid to complete 125 laps and a best lap time of 50.092 seconds. Medenta Finance, Henry Schein, Plandent, Mark Allen Healthcare (Dental Nursing), the BDTA, Zhermack and Kemdent also participated in the event. Well done to everyone who took part.
