A race to the finish line
May 19, 2010
Motorsport enthusiasts across the UK might have been watching the drama unfold in the qualifying session at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix on Saturday 15 May but members of the BDTA were taking part in their very own exhilarating, fun racing experience.
The BDTA Go Karting event took place at Rye-House Kart Raceway in Hoddesdon, where F1 drivers including Lewis Hamilton have raced. More than fifity members of the dental trade from BDTA, Attenborough Dental, Septodont, Performance Finance, Plandent, Purple Media Solutions, Kerr Hawe, Medivision, Takara Belmont and MA Healthcare came to race and cheer on their colleagues. The social networking event was designed to widen engagement with the Association amongst individuals at all levels within member company organisations and was held following the success of the event in 2009. The day started with a briefing and practice session and was followed by a two hour Le Mans style endurance race, lunch and podium presentation. Drivers went flat out along the straights and demonstrated some impressive manoeuvres through the chicanes, trying to gain position and keep pit stops to a minimum. Setting the fastest lap of the race was Lee Kemp from Kerr Hawe with a time of 41.48 seconds. Lee was also in the winning team, completing the highest number of laps (157) in the allocated time. The battle for second and third place was closely and competitively fought. Behind the champions was Plandent who completed 151 laps and Performance Finance were in third place with 150 laps. Well done to everyone who took part. Click here to view the gallery of images from the event.
